What Makes CBD So Popular?
Well CBD is a natural stimulator of the body's natural endocannabinoid system (ECS). What that means is the CBD, unlike THC, directly allows our body to produce more of the endocannabinoids. This is what will enable us to 'feel good' factor! But it also helps us modulate anxiety. When you look at THC its really at the opposite side of the spectrum. THC is going to make sure that your ECS is directly stimulated meaning you have an exogenous ligand. What does that mean? That means you have an exogenous force coming in and boosting cannabinoids. However, CBD promotes natural production cannabinoids.
Fun Fact: The ECS is throughout the whole body, not just in our brain!
How Does CBD Work?
CBD comes into the body and then suppresses the fatty acid amide hydroxylase. This FAAH is required to metabolize THC normally. But when we look at CBD because it contains the FAAH, it allows the body to produce more of what is called anandamide. There's a lot of supportive research surrounding anandamide. Anandamide has a powerful effect on the tumor necrosis factor one alpha - TNF1A is simply a powerful inflammatory marker. So when TNF1A is high in the body inflammation is systemically high. When we look at every single chronic disease state within the body, inflammation is usually at the root.
So CBD directly can produce more anandamide within the body, which therefore suppresses TNF1A. Something vital when it comes down to modulating inflammation.
It doesn't stop there! CBD also reduces mitogen-induced T & B cell proliferation. Generally speaking, it really surrounds your immune system. However, when we have an overactive immune system, it practically means we have a lot of T & B cells activated. That could mean our immune system is attacking itself for no reason. For instance: autoimmune conditions.
How Does CBD Effect The Body?
Anandamide affects the mitogen-induced process by promoting what's called cell apoptosis. Sounds complicated? Means - it allows a cell to die when it's supposed to die. For instance: if we have an immune cell that is old and shouldn't be there - it's programmed to die. No serious: we have cells in our body that have pre-programmed cell death called apoptosis. Now if this lives longer then it should, well - we have a problem. Reason-being it's going to cause the body to heighten up the immune system more = you're going to feel sick! With flu-like symptoms - as our collection is always 'fighting itself'. Lastly, what anandamide can do is it blocks what's called a lipopolysaccharide-induced activation of nuclear factor-kappa B.
Confused? Now lipopolysaccharide is something that comes from an unhealthy digestive system - practically unhealthy gut bacteria that triggers the release of something into the bloodstream. Now, these lipopolysaccharides trigger inflammation. At the same time, nuclear factor-kappa B is considered a master inflammatory signal within the body.
Summary: Basically, what CBD does is, allows anandamide to block a lipopolysaccharide. Meaning if your unhealthy CBD could potentially help you get healthier by preventing these harmful bacteria from really causing this issue within your body
CBD & Anxiety
CBD is becoming popular as a course of treatment when it comes to dealing with anxiety, on a day to day basis. Why? Well CBD has a powerful ability to activate our adenosine receptors. To put this into perspective - coffee blocks adenosine receptors while CBD activates it! An excellent example of this is - if you have too much caffeine you feel anxious right? Believe it or not - CBD has the polar opposite effect! Due to it allowing less glutamate to get into the brain, rather more GABA to be released to the brain. Essentially, we're in a harmonious balance between GABA and glutamate.
We also have something known as 5-HT1A receptors. This is simply a direct precursor to serotonin. Essentially, we have an indirect way of helping you feel good.
Lastly, we have something called GPR55, which has been shown in studies that by blocking GPR55, we can decrease cancer cell proliferation. It's not saying it's a cure to cancer - but studies have shown that if you block GPR55 cancers don't grow as fast and CBD has been shown to block some of the GPR55.
So when it comes down to just wanting to lead a long and healthy life. You want to make sure you're choosing the right reputable CBD brand when thinking about making a purchase. That's why at Alphagreen we pride our selves being transparent with all products listed!
